Women’s Retreat a Success – Feedback wanted

Every year the female members of the Mission team have a weekend retreat to build community and get to know each other better.  It’s so important due to the fact that we have so many sites and shifts that many people don’t know each other well and cannot connect on a regular basis.

Talking with members of our team who went to the event I understand it was a great event.  Thanks to Kathy Austin, Marlene Hamilton, Juliet Lee, Jann Sonntag and everyone who made it possible.  Special Thanks to Cynthia Tobias for coming a sharing on the Strong Willed Woman.

I’d love to get feedback from those of you who attended.  What was the best part of the retreat for you?

The retreat was great – thank you to all who were responsible for it. This year, my favorite retreat outcome was the increased admiration I have for Ardretta. I was always impressed with her success in housing our homeless men and in the initiative she has shown in her work. However, after learning more about her background, I am in awe of the strong woman she is and the decisions she had made that brought her to where she is today. I foresee great things for her in the future. Her determination and ingenuity will take her places we can only begin to imagine.

I was so glad I could be a part of the retreat. I was also pretty bummed that I had to leave early, but still thankful I could make it for part of the fun.
The women that work at the Mission have such different stories and backgrounds, and it’s great to get together to have time to learn more about these stories. Kathy, Marlene, Jann & Juliet were so great. And, yes, Ardretta is phenomenal! I have a whole new respect for her.

I had a blast at the Retreat!! All of it was fun, but the best part for me was when we were just haning out laughing & talking. I learned so much about everyone! We all come from different backgrounds & walks of life so it was great to learn from each other & be encouraged. The Mission has so many talented women & I am blessed to know them even better now.

The retreat was wonderful! Fun, funny, intimate time together. Great insights from Cynthia too! This gave us all a new appreciation for eachothers giftings and quirks as we work together toward the common goal of changing lives. Very meaningful!

I don’t think I can begin to tell you how much the retreat means to me. It’s an incredible opportunity to learn more about the beautiful women I work with. Each with a personal story and a heart to serve that humbles me. I love these ladies. Everyone is so unique and special. Cynthia was such a delight. I didn’t have the opportunity to attend her recent workshop, but I’m a long time fan. Her teachings were pearls of wisdom. And her class on the “strong willed woman” certainly hit pretty close to home (who knew?). I loved the laughter…which is a favorite, but I also enjoyed the sweet Holy spirit I felt as Juliet led us in worship. My spirit is renewed every year when I go, and I come back with an increased respect for the wonderful women at the Mission with whom I have the privilege to serve.

Thanks to the planning, hard work and talents of Kathy, Marlene, Juliet & Jann the retreat was a great time. I was priviledged to get to know the amazing women that work for the Tacoma Rescue Mission better. The retreat location was beautiful and luxurious. (the food was so tasty!) Cynthia Ulrich Tobias, our speaker, was so good. What a great topic, the Strong Willed Woman. Cynthia’s wisdom, experience and sense of humor was inspiring. We laughed, we cried, we worshiped, we sang, and danced. It was a very special time where we were valued and got to know each other better. Each part of the weekend was very special! Thanks for the great gift!!!

  12. Jann Sonntag says:

It is a great blessing to connect to the women of TRM. We all share a common goal to serve God through the Tacoma Rescue Mission. Getting to know each other strengthens our bond and ability to serve others and each other. Knowing we are all strong willed women with different ways of accomplishing our goals helps us to work better together. There are amazing women at TRM and we are all blessed to be given an opportunity to get to know each other better. Thank you for that opportunity.

  13. Ardrettta Jones says:

I absolutely loved it! TRM ladies were able to relax, relate, reflect, and most of all rejoice in the lord. The Speaker, Cynthia Ulrich delivered a wonderful message about Strong Willed Women and how they can best serve the lord; doing the will of God. Sign me up for next year.

    I LOVED IT!

  14. Pamula Norfleet says:

The retreat was awesome and refreshing. It’s nice to be able to get away and take in all the love that each woman gives out in there own special way.
The speaker,Cynthia Ulrich stated that, “we are so diverse,” And it’s true; each of us are so gifted and talented in so many different ways.
Spending time with my co-workers allowed me to better appreciate there personality, strengths, and talents that so perfectly fit into this master piece of a puzzle here at the Tacoma Rescue Mission.
