Be Flexible… This morning I have been thinking about the importance of learning to be flexible when it comes to our plans. Good leaders and good managers always work from a plan but what happens when things don’t go as planned? Positive thinking must always be balanced with the reality of real problems and challenges to our best intentioned plans. Effective leaders understand that being flexible helps one to work through whatever the problem may be without getting bent out of shape. A good plan is to go into a new venture or project understanding that something will at some point go wrong. So the flexible person adjusts the plan to fit the new circumstances. This simply means that this week something will not go as planned in some area of your work or personal life. When things don’t go as planned you always have the choice to demonstrate flexibility and creativity. You can complain or you can create a new plan based on new circumstances. So make up your mind this week to be flexible. The people you work with will notice that kind of an attitude and you will be happier. Many Blessings, Alvin

Alvin,
I’ve alway said “If you don’t have a plan for your job and your life, someone else will!” So write down your key goals and how you plan to achieve them. You may allow a few detours, but when the crisis has passed get back on track and stick to it..
Yes, I even noticed as a small child that things NEVER seemed to go as planned. At the time, I puzzled about this and came to the conclusion that it didn’t do any good to make plans! With time, I realized that plans are important, but so is flexibility.
